Tool evaluations tend to start in the wrong place. Most teams open a comparison page and start reading feature lists. A better starting point is mapping where time is actually lost in your current workflow.

Common Mistakes Learning Teams Make When Evaluating Tools

Tool evaluations are high-stakes decisions that often go sideways for the same predictable reasons. Before signing anything, check your process against these:

  1. Evaluating on demo performance, not team-wide usability. Every authoring tool looks good when an expert is running the demo. The question is what the average person on your team can ship independently. Run your own trial with people who aren't tool specialists.
